Geographic Information Systems (GIS): Staff

Paxton LaJoie is the GIS Specialist in Education and Practice for MIT Libraries. She has a background in environmental science and specializes in remote sensing analysis. Prior to joining the MIT Libraries, she conducted research using GIS and remote sensing analyses to assess environmental concerns under NASA's Applied Sciences Capacity Building program. Outside of work she enjoys reading and competitive gaming. 

 

 

 

Erin Shives is the GIS and Statistics Librarian for MIT Libraries. Erin holds an M.S. in Environmental Science from the Yale School of the Environment with a focus in GIS, remote sensing, and statistical analysis for environmental justice concerns, and a B.A. in Sustainability with a focus in geography and watershed systems from San Diego State University. Prior to this work, Erin spent time as a research member for the NASA DEVELOP Program, applying NASA Earth observations and remote sensing techniques to actionable environmental and community health concerns.
